Hello everyone! Just a little info about myself. I have lived in Bullitt County all but 9 months of my life. When I was 3 my dad was stationed in Germany and I lived there for 9 months before returning to the States. I am a graduate of Bullitt Central High School where I played basketball and baseball, played college baseball and received my bachelors from Campbellsville University, and received my Masters and Rank I in counseling from Western Kentucky University. I started my teaching career here at Cedar Grove in 1998. I taught grades 1-3 until December of 2011 when Mrs. Snyder retired. I was offered the opportunity to teach Physical Education and ended up taking it! I married in the same summer I started teaching to Shelley Adkins Westwood and have two wonderful children, Ariel and Brady.
Physical Education Program
I want to implement and build upon a Physical Education Program that will carry over concepts of Health, Movement, and promote Physical Fitness. The Physical Education activities will be designed to promote fun-enhanced activities that serve a purpose in facilitating the various abilities of all students.
Our Physical Education Program will offer a variety of planned and sequential activities, which include movement exploration, low organization activities, rhythmic activities, self-testing activities and lead-up skills to sport fundamentals. Modified games will promote the development of positive interaction skills, along with motor and social skills.
Primary Values of Physical Education: Cooperation, Sharing, Apply Appropriate Behaviors for participation in partner and group activities.
Intermediate Values of Physical Education: Enjoy contributing to individual and team success. Recognize the role of exercise and maintenance of Total Wellness, (mental, social and physical enrichment for a healthy lifestyle).
Students need to Follow the CGES Rules at all times. Citizenship Give Respect Effort Self Control Your child(ren) will have P.E. for 1 week, possibly in a 4 week rotation. Please be aware of the rotations so your child or children will dress appropriately for P.E.
Please notify me if a child is under a doctor's care for any illness together with a written statement of limitations. For Safety and Comfort purpose your child should wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing. Please remind your child to dress appropriately for physical activity.
By working together to encourage fitness and the importance of leisure life-time activities, I am certain we can promote healthy attitudes towards self-directed goals for our students and families. Please feel free to e-mail or call with questions or concerns.
I welcome your support.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jimmy Westwood
